Lancashire has borders with Cumbria, Yorkshire and Merseyside. It's county town is Lancaster. It is symbolised by a red rose and was one of the two counties in the War or the Roses (against Yorkshire's white rose). Perhaps the most famous town in Lancashire, the seaside resort of Blackpool, became a unitary authority in it's own right in 1998. It is currently bidding for some of the super-casino licenses in an aim to attract different crowds to the resort. Blackpool is also the spiritual home of TVR sports cars though the company has now moved production overseas.
